Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our remanufactured engines

The motor is blown, for one reason or another, but you love your car, so it is time to replace your vehicle's engine. Do you buy brand new or get a used engine? Well you have several options, but most likely you will not need to buy a brand new engine. New engines, often referred to as crate motors, are generally expensive, and purchased when building a custom car or hot rod. A daily driver vehicle will often warrant a used, rebuilt or remanufactured engine.

This is an engine remanufactured to the original blueprints and exact specifications, and is tested to original equipment standards. This is the highest quality option for replacing an engine in your car, truck, or SUV. Remanufactured means that an engine, taken out of a vehicle has been returned to factory condition. The engine core was machined, new pistons, rings, and bearings, along with other parts have been replaced. This allows the engine to operate as if it is brand new. This is what US Engine Production offers.

A rebuilt engine is one in which the repair is done up to the level of failure. This directly means that the parts replaced are only the ones leading up to the failure for which there was a need of rebuilding; but apart from that, all other components are left intact. With rebuilt engines a large percentage of the internal parts may be original and worn. The testing procedure of a rebuilt engine depends upon the individual rebuilder from whom you are getting the job done.

Used engines are just that, an engine that has previously run in another vehicle, comparable to the customers, and then transplanted into that vehicle. These engines usually do not carry a warranty longer than 30 days and can have high mileage on them to begin with. Many people go with a used engine due to the cost savings; however in the long run this can have a damaging affect as the warranty will run out and leave the owner in a financial bind if something goes wrong relatively soon. It is very difficult to know actual mileage and history on used engines.

We provide a One Year Unlimited Mileage parts and/or replacement only warranty on all of our engines. This comprehensive warranty gives you peace of mind knowing that your investment is protected.

We maintain a constant inventory of approximately 1,200 units, which allows many engines to have an average lead-time of 3 to 5 business days. Our efficient logistics ensure your engine arrives as quickly as possible to minimize your downtime.

We offer a flexible core return policy that allows up to 30 days to return your core. Many units require no up-front core fee upon order. Contact our specialists for specific details about your engine.
